Quality Assurance Inspection & audits

1.  Review of vendors’ Quality manual and Inspection and test plan.

2.  Set up of a process (ITP) stage inspection & sign off plan incorporating material & process traceability.

3. Review of fabrication drawing, WPS / PQR  for code compliance.

4.  Review material test certificates for compliance to code & P.O. requirements.

5.  Review/Witness mechanical & hydrostatic tests as per specification.

6.  Review/Witness NDE procedures & NDE personnel qualifications, for compliance to code/ P.O. requirements.

7. Review weld maps, heat treatment procedures for code compliance/P.O. requirements.

8. Review weld repair procedures & monitor weld repairs.

9. Perform Visual/dimensional inspection of completed Equipment.

10. Verify all NCR’s are corrected & approved by client.

11. Conduct final inspection, review documentation & issue release certificate

 Quality Assurance is a value added step in all production & process related activities. It collects & analyzes process data & eliminates conditions that can cause errors or deviation in product specification. The final check is by statistical sampling.

Human error is eliminated by mistake proofing (Poke-Yoke) the process. 

Quality Control on the other hand depends on continuous checking of specifications & diverting material for rejection or repair. It is estimated that rejection & re-work can bite into 30% of the operational costs. Human capability (experience, expertise, state of mind & body) are critical here.
